Skills and Awareness for First aid, Emergency Response and Wilderness Training

Duration: 1 day

Target Audience: Primarily for medical professionals with a interest in wilderness medicine - undergraduates, interns postgraduates, consultants, nursing students, nurses, paramedics, emergency medicine technicians and forestry students.

Tentative Venue : Kerala Forest Research Institute, Peechi, Thrissur

 

Objective: To equip participants with skills and knowledge for first aid, emergency response, and management of medical situations specifically in wilderness environments.

 

Core Training Components:

  • Essential Wilderness Medicine Skills: Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of wilderness medicine, preparing them to handle unique medical issues that arise in remote settings.

  • Didactics would include animal attack; identification of the local flora; management of allergies bites and stings; water disinfection

  • The practical sessions would include Initial patient assessment Dislocation and fractures: splints Pulls, lifts, litters and carries.
